That’s me at the National Baseball Hall of Fame in front of the exhibit about road tripping to MLB ballparks.

What Is Bleachers and ‘Bleeds?

I’m really lucky. In the summer of 2024, I’ll be taking a two month sabbatical from my work as a non-profit association manager to do the most American of things: drive thousands of miles to watch baseball games at as many major league ballparks as I can.

This isn’t going to be a travel blog about sports, or a sports blog about travel. I’m as fascinated by the games and ballparks as I am by the cities that host them, the spaces between and the people who make it all worth visiting.

By the end of my journey, I will have visited all 30 MLB ballparks, made a few side quests and learned a lot about this country (and a tiny bit about Canada.)

I’d imagine I’m going to learn a lot about myself along the way too. Like Modest Mouse said, “This is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about.”

Comerica Park in Detroit from Section 344, July 30, 2016. Justin Verlander threw a complete game and Jose Iglesias hit a walk-off single to win it for the Tigers.
